This test verifies that your Xbox 360™ console can contact your ISP's DNS (domain-name system) servers. If your console does not pass this test:

  • Verify that your console has passed the IP address connection test. If your IP address is not confirmed, your console cannot pass the DNS test.
  • If your IP address is confirmed and you are using a router or gateway, make sure that you can browse the Internet from a computer on the same router or gateway that your console is using. If you can't, check your router or gateway settings and connections, refer to the help documentation for your operating system, or visit Microsoft Help and Support.
  • If you are connecting directly to a high-speed modem, verify with your Internet service provider (ISP) that you have entered the correct DNS server settings.
